The Degradation of the Character of Macbeth :: GCSE Coursework Macbeth Essays
The Degradation of the Character of Macbethâ â Shakespeare's shocking play, Macbeth investigates the decay of the focal character, Macbeth from a good warrior to a killing and lying beast. This adjustment in character is an immediate consequence of Macbethââ¬â¢s unbridled desire and ravenousness. In act 1 scene 2 Macbeth is depicted as bold, valiant and gallant and everybody respects him. Lord Duncan and his court get news from the injured Captain that the fight against the trickster and the dissident MacDonwald and his military was equally adjusted until Macbeth and Banquo in demonstrations of exceptional fearlessness and savagery annihilated him and his soldiers, similar to sparrows birds, or the bunny the lion. Be that as it may, as this happens , fortifications from the King of Norway and the double crosser, the Thane Of Cawdor, counterattack Macbeth and Banquo however very's feeble; for daring Macbeth well he merits that name. Anyway these two are not under any condition alarmed; yet as the Captain is removed to keep an eye on his injuries, the result is as yet uncertain. The Thane Of Ross shows up to report that, through the battling soul of Macbeth, Duncan's military has won an incredible triumph The triumph fell on us. Duncan announces that the most traitorous doubl e crosser the Thane Of Cawdor is to be executed which is extremely unexpected Go articulate his current demise and Macbeth O valiant cousin! commendable man of his word! is to get his title and homes as a prize Nobel Macbeth hath won. Despite the fact that we haven't yet met Macbeth, while the fight is crude and bleeding the Captain's and Ross' depictions stress a gallant, even epic nature of Macbeth part of them. This is appeared in the exemplifications, for example, Disavowing fortune, valorous crony, and references, for example, retain another Golgotha. Duncan himself liberally lauds Macbeth, and the last designation he gives is honorable. These statements show that individuals and even the ruler have an exceptionally high assessment of Macbeth. The witches show up toward the start and are exceptionally vague animals whether they are human it is questionable. The witches make a feeling of puzzle: they will meet when the fights lost and won, which appears to be a logical inconsistency. The way that they are detestable is appear in their last couplet. As indicated by them Reasonable is foul, and foul is reasonable. Put another way this implies: great is terrible and awful is acceptable. All of Act 1 scene 1 makes an extremely dismal climate.

The Yellow Wallpaper :: essays research papers
We Must Creep to be Heard à à à à à Itââ¬â¢s 2:00am and I can't rest. I thrash around while the inquiry, ââ¬Å"Why didnââ¬â¢t you defend yourself?â⬠continues playing again and again in my brain. The image in my brain of an enslaved lady who weakly endeavors to battle against female mistreatment and her approaching madness is striking and upsetting and keeps on slapping against the openings of my psyche with an irate hand. What was Charlotte Perkins Gilman endeavoring to pass on to her perusers when she composed ââ¬Å"The Yellow Wallpaperâ⬠and made the characters of the storyteller, her better half John, Mary and her sister-in-law Jennie? Clearly, in her very own misrepresented variant involvement in post birth anxiety and its recommended ââ¬Å"rest cureâ⬠, Gilman talks about a world in which the female is constrained into a job of the compliant partner to male strength. In the accompanying pages, I will depict how Gilman has adequately made characters that bring us into their pe rspective on control, predominance and baffled quiet against detainment in a paternalistic culture, and how we are given a view into a fit as a fiddle mind that goes amiss. à à à à à To start with, Gilman made the storyteller as an almost unknown personality; we know her just as Johnââ¬â¢s spouse. This force irregularity reaches out to different territories of their relationship. John rules her in a logically belittling way. His character is shown as solid, commonsense and characteristically manly and he appears to be wary of her apparently powerless, ladylike condition. John analyze her concern, and endorses the ââ¬Å"rest cureâ⬠he accepts she needs. The storyteller has nothing to do with her condition, and when she endeavors to express her genuine thoughts, he treats her like a youngster and downplays her voice. ââ¬Å"John giggles at me, obviously, yet one expects thatâ⬠(An Introduction to Fiction 572) which outlines the job ladies are relied upon to play and acknowledge in a marriage. Another principle work Gilman gave of Johnââ¬â¢s authority over the storyteller is his hindering of her composition. Despite the fact that she thinks composing would support her condition, as Iââ¬â¢m sure Gilman did, John demands it would just cripple her infirmity further. He smothers her innovativeness and insight, compelling her into the job of the accommodating spouse. She is compelled to shroud her works, which baffle her more ââ¬Å"I wrote for some time disregarding them; however it exhausts me a decent dealââ¬having to be so wily about it, or, more than likely meet with substantial oppositionâ⬠(572).

The accounts he tells all through his book are those that have been passed down from his family about the Lakotaââ¬â¢s and their ideals. Marshallââ¬â¢s stories depend on ethics and temperances. While perusing section 3, ââ¬Å"Respect,â⬠of The LakotaWay I came to discover a few similitudes between my familyââ¬â¢s see and the Lakotaââ¬â¢s see. Koskalaka is a youngster, in this section, who goes out chasing in the forested areas and discovers the Deer Woman whom his grandma had outlined for him. His grandma had referenced that she knew a man who was never home in light of the fact that the Deer Woman took him, so he ought to maintain a strategic distance from her however much as could reasonably be expected. The Lakotas are attempting to instruct regard to youthful Koskalaka. They are giving him that you should regard your family and everyone around you since one day you can lose everything. Like the Lakotas, my family has been shown regard through are ages. My family has instructed us that family starts things out and we should regard one another and ourselves. They have said that on the off chance that we don't regard ourselves, at that point nor are we regarding our family name. I asked my mother what regard was the point at which I was more youthful and she said,ââ¬Å"respect isn't something to simply mess with, you ought to consistently give individuals the regard they merit and treat individuals the way that you might want to be dealt with. In The Lakota Way, Koskalaka meets the deer lady and recalls what his grandma had let him know and out of regard he decays her enticing proposal to go with her. In the Lakota clan, the grandma said that when the Deer Woman brings them into her cabin she has intercourse with them yet, when they wake the deer lady is no longer there leaving the man neglectful of his family and looking for the Deer Woman. In contrast to the Lakotas, my family has gone out and seen their own kind of deer lady wether it be with medications, sex, or lies, yet never have they overlooked all of us. My family has figured out how to grasp each other when they have fallen into enticement, where the Lakotas would cast them out. My family members have experienced numerous hardships and troublesome circumstances however the ethics have set into our heads like Koskalakaââ¬â¢s grandma set into his head. They left their familyââ¬â¢s stressed over where they could be and what could be transpiring. The men got childish and impolite, andâ no longer demonstrating the regard and consideration that they ought to have been appearing to their family due to the Deer Woman. University of Pennsylvania Admissions The SAT, ACT Scores, and GPA You Need to Get In
Today, were going to dig into everything you need to know about how to get into University of Pennsylvania! This post will answer all your questions about things like University of Pennsylvania SAT scores, University of Pennsylvania ACT scores, and all the other University of Pennsylvania admissions criteriaplus some generally important college stuff, like getting financial aid and asking your teachers letters of recommendation! Lets get started shall we? University of Pennsylvania: An Introduction The University of Pennsylvania is a private research university, and member of the Ivy League, located in West Philadelphia. According to U.S. News World Reports 2019 rankings, Penn is currently ranked 8th among universities in the United States. This puts it at the highest end of the top 1% of all schools in the nation! In fact, UPenn ranks very strongly across the board, with many departments rated among Americaââ¬â¢s top ten. Not only that, but in 2011, the university was ranked 2nd nationally (behind Harvard) and 11th worldwide based on its number of alumni that are now CEOs at the 500 largest global companies. So itââ¬â¢s safe to say that the University of Pennsylvania has the stats to back up its prestigious Ivy League name! So how do join the ranks of UPenn students? Lets check out the basic stats: University of Pennsylvania freshman acceptance rate: 8.20-1550 (middle 50%) University of Pennsylvania ACT scores: 33-35 (middle 50%) These are just the basicskeep reading for a closer look at how to get into University of Pennsylvania. Were going to take a look at exactly what goes into University of Pennsylvania SAT scores, University of Pennsylvania ACT scores, and other aspects of how to get into University of Pennsylvania. How to Get Into University of Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania SAT Scores Okay, so we know the average University of Pennsylvania SAT score for admitted students this year falls between 120-1550690-760730-790 The above table shows the middle 50% SAT score range of UPenn accepted students. While at first glance it might seem like a good idea to aim for the SAT score of the average Penn student, we strongly recommend setting your goal score at the 75th percentile of the score range of the college youre applying tothis way, your SAT scores will bolster the rest of your application and provide a nice cushion just in case some of the other elements in your app arent quite as strong. With this in mind, think about setting the second number in each of these ranges as your University of Pennsylvania SAT goal score (though chances are you wont be taking the old SAT, huh). So, to give yourself the best shot at being accepted to UPenn, you should structure your SAT prep around a goal score of 760 in EBWR and 790 in Math! Just a side notewe know these scores are pretty highdont let that stress you out! Setting a goal score can help you stay organized when preparing for the test, but dont forget that you can have scores anywhere in this rangeeven below itand still get accepted. The University of Pennsylvania says nothing about a minimum SAT score. You wont be disqualified for a low score, and you can always retake the test. Just aim for the 75th percentile, and try not to go under the 25th! For some inspiration, check out our post on perfect SAT score stories. How to Get Into University of Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania ACT Scores As we covered at the beginning of this post, the middle 50% of students accepted into UPenn scored between 33 and 35 on the ACT. This means that the vast majority of UPenns admitted students scored a 33 or above on the ACT. The formula that we used for the SAT also works here: set your goal score at 35 (the 75th percentile) and make sure not go under a 33 (the 25th percentile). But remember not to stress! With the right preparation, you can be at or near perfect ACT score territory to maximize your chances of getting into Penn. How to Get Into University of Pennsylvania: What You Should Know about the University of Pennsylvania Acceptance Rate The University of Pennsylvanias acceptance rate is an (ominously low?) 8.% Male$6,364 Housing $10,600$9,632 Dining$5,590$4,774 Books and Supplies$1,358$1,358 Transportation$922$964 Personal Expenses $1,946$1,946 Total Budget $78,186$76,444 Looking for help covering these costs? (Who could say no?!) Lucky for you, Penn offers a variety of grant and loan packages. They also practice need-blind admissions. That means students will be denied admission based on ability to pay. Regardless of your financial circumstances, Penn offers programs designed to make attending the university within your reach! How to Get Into University of Pennsylvania: Advice from the Admissions Commitee First, if Penn is where you want to be, apply early decision. Their admit rate in early decision is more than twice as high as it is in regular decision. Second, dont follow the crowd when it comes to extracurricular involvement, academic interests, and essay topics. Being different is often what makes a student stand out. Elite colleges, like Penn, want what they donââ¬â¢t have in their applicant pool and on their campus. When a student has the confidence to pursue their own path or think differently about themselves, it can have a transformational effect on their application. So much of high school is about keeping up with everyone else. When you apply to college, this mindset doesnââ¬â¢t work for a student interested in elite colleges. And, frankly, it doesnââ¬â¢t work for anyone who wants to do something extraordinary with their life. Penn wants extraordinary students who have already done extraordinary things with their life. Third, view the Penn supplemental essay like itââ¬â¢s a pivotal piece of the applicationââ¬âbecause it is! Students who get specific about their academic interest and back it up with evidence from their own experiences write stronger Penn essays. Avoid using the common themes often mentioned on the tour, information session, website, and marketing materials. Drill down and find opportunities or an approach that is much less obvious. Listing classes or professors in your Penn essay is fine, but I prefer when a student connects what they are interested in pursuing to real life research going on at Penn or even a specialization within a department which matches up with exactly the studentââ¬â¢s interest. Sara Harberson, UPenn Admissions Officer How to Get Into University of Pennsylvania: The Takeaway The University of Pennsylvania is a great school with some seriously positive outcomes for its alumni. And while the expectations for University of Pennsylvania SAT and ACT scores may be high, your standardized test scores and admissions essays are parts of your application that you can have the most control over. Thats good news! You cant change your go back in time and change your GPA from the first half of high school. And you cant control whats written in your letters of recommendation (though you can make smart choices about how to ask for them!) But you can hit your goal score on whatever standardized test you chooseyou just need some good resources and a bit of discipline! Figure out whether the SAT or ACT is the right test for you, and find a study schedule that fits your busy lifestyle (consider checking out the Free 1-Week SAT Trial or the Free 1-Week ACT Trial from Magoosh). And make sure to nail the admissions essays. Heres some advice from a current UPenn student: With competitive schools such as the University of Pennsylvania, the Why Us question can be fairly daunting. It easy to look at the websites main page and pick a few key features to write about. What I found, however, is that a successful Why Us answer often looks at the specifics. Although there are many things that make the University of Pennsylvania incredible, its important to discover and write about which resources you imagine you would take advantage of and to be as specific as possible. If there is a class, program, or even professor that you are particularly drawn to, be sure to include that in your Why Us statement and elaborate on it as much as possible. tvolkre, AdmitSee With any luck, youll be a CEO (or whatever you want to be!) in no time.

What Makes People Happy - 836 Words
Kelly Volken Patricia Hake English 20 March 6, 2017 What Makes People Happy? The question ââ¬Å"what makes people happy?â⬠is a very difficult question to answer just because it is one of those questions that can be interpreted in so many different ways. In reality, there are countless amounts of things that make people happy, but the real question is, do those things leave a permanently lasting happy effect on you? The answer probably not. There is a big difference between what can make you happy in the moment, and what makes you a happy person in general. Being young, you may find that happiness is effortless, others not so much. Bottom line, itââ¬â¢s all up to the individualââ¬â¢s perception of how they look at things. In order to find thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Negativity brings you nothing beneficial in your life. My philosophy teacher once told me ââ¬Å"I believe we are all social beings striving for different types of relationships.â⬠Thinking about it, I couldnââ¬â¢t agree with him more. None would be who they are today now without relationships, whether it be your friends, family, coworkers, or basically anyone youââ¬â¢ve known. We are constantly changing as a person because through each and every connection, you learn something, good or bad, though the bad ones seem to stand out more. For example, not many remember how they became friends, but the chances are they remember why they arenââ¬â¢t friends anymore. Obviously, bad memories donââ¬â¢t make you happy, so why donââ¬â¢t we try to avoid them in the first place? Itââ¬â¢s so easy for people to be quick to judge, and react off their natural instincts of what they think is right. We all have the right to speak our mind, but you must think about the situation in order to make the decision that will generate happiness. Most of the time when making decisions, it involves the little things. I was in high school once, and I know drama was inevitable. The World Of Sports And Athletic Competition - 2151 Words
What Role if any, does ethics play in the world of sports and athletic competition? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines integrity as ââ¬Å"the quality of being honest and fairâ⬠(Merriam-Webster, 2016), so what does it mean to have integrity in athletics? My response to this question before and after doing my research on the topic turned out to be the same because I believe sports are one of the true level playing fields that are offered in life. I say this because the world of sports and athletics doesnââ¬â¢t care where you come from, how much money you have or who your parents are. All of these factors contribute to your makeup as an individual and may influence how well equipped you are to play a game meaning, your environment could supply you with the tools and gear to be successful but at the end of the day it all comes down to athletes ability to play the game and also how hard he works to become better his or her craft. many of us have stressors that weigh us down so much in the real world and influence what we are able to do like social-economic pro blems and personal issues in relationships or work. These factors can dictate so many things for a player: their attitude, temperament towards others, how hard they play the game, how they believe others view them, etc. But for some reason once you step on a field to compete against another person or team its almost euphoric how all your worries go away and it becomes just a simple contest between two people or two groups of peopleShow MoreRelatedOur World Is Far From Perfect.
